CSEM provide a number of seminars on Operations for the Sustainable Business. These seminars have been develped and designed to meet the needs of busy professionals. They can be taken individually or as part of our MA/MSc in Integrated Sustainable Management for Business. Briefly the seminars cover:

Waste, Emissions, Land and Sustainable Development I(C5)
Looks at waste and air/ water emissions, land management and issues arising, provides an approach to assessing these issues, and presents a pathway from environmental management to ecologically and socially sustainable development.
Sustainable Life-Cycle Management (C6)
Reviews the life cycle of industrial products including current product & packaging design & development, purchasing, logistics & transport practice, factors that determine it, the environmental & social impacts they cause, & finds sustainable alternatives.
Sustainable Design & Packaging (C6.1)
Reviews the life cycle of industrial products, current product & packaging design & development, factors that determine it, the environmental & social impacts they cause, & finds sustainable alternatives.
Sustainable Supply Chain Management (C6.2)
Reviews current purchasing and supply chain practice, factors that determine it, the environmental & social impacts they cause, & finds sustainable alternatives.
Sustainable Logistics (C6.3)
Reviews current transport and logistics practice, factors that determine it, the environmental & social impacts they cause, & finds sustainable alternatives.

    CSEM provides a number of seminars on Auditing, Sustainable Management Systems and Life Cycle Assessment. These seminars have been develped and designed to meet the needs of busy professionals. They can be taken individually or as part of our MA/MSc in Integrated Sustainable Management for Business. Briefly the seminars cover:

    Environmental Audit: Hands-On (C4a)
    Is a hands-on introduction to environmental audit. Includes universal review/audit and aspects evaluation processes to reveal ecological, social and business risks & economically advantageous steps to environmental and social improvement & sustainable business. Our flagship course for some years, run approximately 50 times, participants emerge with new capabilities and confidence.
    Sustainability Audit for Internal Auditors (C4c)
    Introduces methodology for environmental audit for Internal Auditors and their units - and also for those who need to prepare for professional internal audit. Chosen at one point, for example, to train the whole of the Heinz global audit team.
    System for Sustainability Management (C3)
    Reviews environmental management systems and other management support systems, ecological & business risks & integrated sustainable management, exposes the inefficiency in separation of management support systems, & examines how to extend processes for ecologically & socially sustainable development.
    Sustainability Management Systems & Audit (C3.1)
    Describes the potential role, & facilitates the development, of environmental management systems and systems for conventional business, audit, & sustainable management in corporate environmental, sustainable & social management.
    Sustainability Accounting and Reporting (C3.2)
    Offers guidance on integrating environmental management systems with the accounting function thereby improving overall company performance and reducing risk.
    Life-Cycle-Assessment Hands-On (O5)
    Reviews Life Cycle Assessment, presents a step by step approach consisty with ISO14000 standards, explores how to, and the cost of, extending the methodology for sustainable development and provides practical hands-on experience.

    Shows how sustainability can be applied to the business strategy development process in light of conventional business strategy, sustainability, sustainable development, & a method for planning the process of becoming sustainable.
    Review of Conventional Approaches to Business Strategy (C1.1)
    Reviews corporate strategy to provide an effective starting point for a strategy for sustainable development and opens a discussion about a relationship between business strategy and sustainable development.
    A New Look at Environmental & Sustainability Policy (C1.2)
    Helps you review your (possibly now tired) environmental policy and formulate Corporate Social Responsibility and integrated sustainable management policies through a systematic, repeatable, step-by-step process.
    Green & Sustainability Opportunities for Business (C1.3)
    Justifies building an integrated strategy for sustainable development in light of corprate governance, business ethics, corporate social responsibility and potential opportunities in the agenda for integrated sustainable development.
    Developing the Sustainable Business (C1.4)
    Helps you through the strategic processes of developing a sustainable business and opens the possibilities for integrating econimic, business systems, social and environmental sustainability.
    Globalisation, Corporate Social Responsibility & SD (O1)
    Examines planning for sustainability within the normal strategy development process of a buiness in the light of Globalisation, Corporate Social Responsibility and their relationship with Sustainable Development.
    Integration in Sustainability Management (C7)
    Examines and cost justifies action to embed integration within a business in light of external facets of the business environment, similarities between business functions and current knowledge and research.

    CSEM provide a number of seminars on Human Resource Development & Leadership in the context of the Sustainable Business. These seminars have been develped and designed to meet the needs of busy professionals. They can be taken individually or as part of our MA/MSc in Integrated Sustainable Management for Business .  Briefly the seminars cover:

    People Management & Leadership in Sustainable Development (C2)
    Reviews HRM or People Management in relation to Sustainable Development, and building social sustainability, introduces associated awareness education, change management, culture change, and leadership programmes, and explores change agent skills.
    Leadership for Sustainable Business (O2)
    Provides models of human behaviour and leadership, develops a model of best practice, uses small groups to identify personal strengths and weaknesses, and provides opportunities to practice required skills while developing an action plan to implement on return to work.

They can be taken individually or as part of our MA/MSc in Integrated Sustainable Management for Business. Briefly the seminars cover:

    The Market and Marketing for Sustainable Development (O3)
    Reviews and examines Green Consumers, Green penetration, consumer spending, changes to marekt norms, and social, environmental, and ethical responses to Sustainable Development, and considers if there is a basis for a green/ Sustainable Development brief for marketing.
    Market Research for Sustainability (O3.1)
    Reviews and examines Green Consumers from available market research, Green penetration, consumer spending (sector-by-sector) and the potential for Green Consumers/ customers to cause changes to marekt norms.
    Marketing in Sustainable Business (O3.2)
    Reviews and examines social, environmental and ethical responses to Sustainable Development, and the regulatory drivers for Green marketing. It consiers ethical investment criteria, new models of marketing and product development and if there is a basis for a green/ Sustainable Development brief for marketing.

    CSEM provide a number of seminars on subjects that are required knowledge for entry into our Masters programme. They may also be of interest to those with a responsibility for, or interest in, Environmental and Sustainable Management.

    Regulation for SD (O7/ERF)
    Reviews the creation and development of environmental law and law related to corporate social responsibility and sustainable development, shows how the legal system works, examines environmental regulations, illustrates what to look for on site, and suggests how to deal with disclosure and events with legal implications. It also provides the foundation knowledge of environmental regulation required by students undertaking the MA/MSc in Integrated Sustainable Management for Business.
    Ecology & Biodiversity / Environmental Science Foundation (O6/ESF)
    Meets management's need for best current scientific knowledge regarding the 'receiving environment', its vulnerability, and environmental threats from corporate activity, and provides a way through the maze to integrating this knowledge into corporate management/ leadership at every level. It also provides the foundation knowledge of environmental science required by students undertaking the MA/MSc in Integrated Sustainable Management for Business.
    Management Foundation (MF)
    Provides the foundation knowledge of management required by students undertaking the MA/MSc in Integrated Sustainable Management for Business.
    Professional and Research Methods & Skills (PRM)
    Provides knowledge and understanding of professional and research approaches, methods, methodologies and skills appropriate to the professional role, and fosters sufficient knowledge, understanding and skills to start a dissertation.
